Krista S. Geller, Ph.D. has been involved in applied behavioral science since childhood as a subject in her dad’s psychology studies. It wasn’t until her freshman year at Radford University she decided to double major in psychology and media studies and had the unique opportunity to participate as a researcher and news reporter in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech. She researched: proper installation of child safety seats, strategies for healthy eating, multiple effects of coal mines in Virginia, creation of the “Road Rage Reducer,” the impact of a date on the alcohol consumption of college students, and the significance of the Actively Caring for People Movement (AC4P). Krista graduated with her MS and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. Her focus was on pinpointing the significance of interpersonal relationships throughout the human lifespan. Her research interests were dedicated to her life-long love of pets, and the special impact of pet-people relationships on human dynamics. This research was highlighted in her book chapter, “The Power of Pets,” published by Cambridge University Press in the textbook Applied Psychology: Actively Caring for People. In 2012 Krista worked as the People-Based Safety (PBS) Global Manager for Bechtel. As a teacher, coach, and consultant, Krista helped employees develop the competence and courage to actively care for the safety of themselves and their co-workers. She travelled worldwide to assist in adapting safety to various cultures, languages, and work processes. She recently co-authored two books with her dad; Actively Caring for People’s Safety: How to Cultivate a Brother’s/Sister’s Keeper Work Culture and 50 Lessons to Enrich Your Life: Proven Principles from Psychological Science. Her mission: to inspire people to actively care for the safety and well-being of themselves and others. Krista is President of GellerAC4P, Inc. consulting/education/training organization, co-founded by Dr. E. Scott Geller. Visit www.gellerac4p.com.
